Our Story

AT SUnNYSIDE FARM

A family-run riding school with a passion for horses, built on generations of experience.

Hillview Stables has a proud history dating back to 1963, when Cyril and Nesta first established the riding school in Misterton, alongside their daughter Patricia. What began as a family passion for horses and riding grew over the years into a much-loved riding school, welcoming riders of all ages and abilities and creating a lasting legacy within the local community.

In 1985, Hillview Stables moved to Crewkerne, where Patricia, affectionately known as Pat, continued to build on her parents' hard work and dedication alongside her husband, Alan, and their son, Shaun. Together, they carried the family tradition forward, sharing their knowledge, experience and love of horses with generations of riders.

In 2023, the next chapter of the Hillview Stables story began when Georgie, Shaun's daughter, joined the family business. Today, Shaun and Georgie run the stables together, proudly continuing a tradition that has been passed down through the family for generations.

With over 60 years of history behind us, Hillview Stables remains a truly family-run riding school, built on strong family values, a genuine love for horses and a commitment to helping riders develop their skills and confidence. We understand that every horse and rider is different, and we believe that patience, encouragement and creating a welcoming environment are at the heart of a positive riding experience.

From our beginnings in Misterton to our home in Crewkerne, our story has always been about more than just riding. It is about family, the special bond between horses and people, and the friendships and memories made along the way.

As we look to the future, we are proud to honour the foundations laid by Cyril and Nesta while continuing to grow and evolve for the next generation. With four generations of family history behind us, Hillview Stables remains dedicated to keeping the family tradition alive and sharing our passion for horses with the local community for many years to come.
